If You Knew

I have a thought and I can’t find a reason why this would be a problem. So here goes:

Wouldn’t it be great to know how and when you’re going to die?

Just think about this for a minute. Wouldn’t you live your life differently if you just had that vital piece of information?

For instance, if you’re not going to die of lung cancer, heart disease, or a stroke, why stop smoking?

If you’re not going to die of liver disease or other alcohol-related concerns, why stop drinking?

If you’re not going to die of an obesity-related disease, why stop eating chocolate?

And if you knew you were going to die at a younger age from, let’s say, a car accident, perhaps you would live your life very differently. Maybe not get married and have children. Instead, you could travel the world and jump out of planes or do daredevil sports. Not that you’d never get hurt, but you’d know these things weren’t going to kill you.

Maybe knowing when and how would make you more compassionate or less fearful of living the life you secretly wish you could.

If genies existed and I found a magic lamp, that would be one of my wishes…although, shouldn’t I wish for eternal life? Hmmm. Sounds like a good topic for another blog.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks for reading!
